TL;DR: Time-travel romance with Jane Austen that teaches you to love yourself.

Short summary: I loved everything about this book. I loved the characters and the setting and the story and the silliness and the heart.

I was not expecting to feel a kindred to Tess in the beginning. But by the end, when you hear her talk about her insecurities, her fear of being loved despite her mess or the she’s exhausting… wow. It made me cry.

I hope one day to find someone who looks at my chaos the way Hugh looks at Tess’.

What an utter delight.

What I loved:

  • Suprise Cameo!

  • The two MC's learning to understand each other

  • The build up of the relationship

What I didn’t:

  • Nada!

Mood: Emotional Damage (the good kind), One-Sitting Read, Curl Up With Tea, Found Family Feels, Swoon-Worthy

Warnings:

  • Grief & Loss: Features heavy themes of grief, the death of a parent, and abandonment.

  • Medical & Illness: Includes depictions of cancer, dementia, and terminal illness, along with general medical content.

  • Romantic Themes: Contains moderate sexual content and infrequent instances of infidelity.

  • Language & Tone: Profanity/cursing and themes of misogyny appear in the novel

Who should read it: Anyone who loves Jane Austen or a rom com or ever felt like they were too much or too exhausting to love
